I can do it or let’s rock!
Wow. There is always sort of excitement when you start a new project. There are still a lot of things to do but it’s great to get started. So, what this fuss is all about?
Let’s see.
There are tons of cg art blogs around and this one looks just like another silly wordpress blog. Why I’m doing this? Being in the cg sphere for some time I’ve learn a few things about digital art and creativity, and I want to share that experience with you. It’s a great chance to talk about inspirational artists and works, various resources and projects to fire up your creativity, eleminate any fears and doubts. ‘I can do it‘ is the first mantra you’ve to chant.
Being blogging for 4 or 5 years it’s not a big deal to crank out some posts. I don’t scare if some client came up and ask me to paint some busty dark elf girl. Or epic battlefield with ultramatines and chaos warriors. I could see some challenge before artwork but no trace of fear or doubt. ‘I can do it‘ is what I always feel.
Last year I thought ‘I quit from business to work on personal projects only’. Boy, THAT was hella scary. By working for client you play safe because you get paid after all. I was making nice figures comparing to my regular job and cutting that off wasn’t easy. But at the same time I wasn’t happy about the commercial work I was doing. I constantly hear the inner voice saying ‘dude, you’re wasting your time, go back to the things you love painting’.
After completing Ocean Dreams I woke up. It’s a painting I did for some girl at deviantart community just to express my gratitude. No money, no romantic attachement… nothing, just a way to say ‘thank you’ to unfamiliar person for her support. The following reaction was the biggest enjoyment I’ve ever experienced. No money can give you the same.
Now I’m pursuing the goal that scares me a lot, but I feel very passionate about it. These are three projects, three universes: Rainbow Dreams, Steam Fantasy and unnamed sci-fi opera. It’s time to chant ‘I can do it’ once again. Stay tuned for cool stuff and updates.
